Thanks Alan. Oxford looked off the pace, I thought, though 11 minutes isn't enough time to judge. Nice to reach the final.

From Premier League Website.....
Other rules include:
Clubs are only allowed to field three outfield players over the age of 21, plus the goalkeeper is also permitted to be over 21.
Each club must host at least three league matches at their main stadium during the course of the season, which helps to enhance the matchday experience for the young players and fans.
Member clubs' training grounds or Academy venues will be permitted for the staging of up to three home matches over the course of the league season.

Thanks for the highlights Alan.

Quite a strong Liverpool team for that level, so all the more of an achievement.

Skrtel showed himself right up though. Goes through one kid, which could really could have hurt him for his first yellow, and then a complete meltdown after getting mugged off by Samuelsen. He would have got away with it if he hadn't squared up to Samuelsen.

Always disliked Skrtel. Throwing his weight around in an U21 game what a big man.

George Dobson impressed me. Very good tackler and passer I thought.

Bilic wasn't there but Dicks, Woods & Randolph were.

Bogdan had a taxi waiting for him from 9pm...obviously didn't expect Extra Time!

Looked a good game... some lovely moves in there... the one that Browne (no.10) failed to convert was superb!

Skrtel.... what a cunt.

Thanks Alan.

Henry and Spiegel looking very solid (by these clips). Looked like Oxford showed moments of Class but he for caught out for the 2nd goal.

Our 2nd and 3rd goals were great, and Samuelson looks incredibly difficult to play against when he's running at you

I was unaware about this, but that's a great achievement by the young guns. It's even a good year for our U21s and earning an extra match at Mecca just increases the feeling that the gods are with us this season.

Match report for those interested

West Ham struggled in the first half, Liverpool were in control and had several chances and should have gone in maybe more than 1 up. Chirivella was impressive, controlling the tempo and very efficient on the ball. We was scared of the pace and strength of Our youngsters were trying to hit them on the break but Browne in particular couldn't get his touch going and most attacks were thwarted by the very strong Liverpool back 4 including Skrtel and Flanagan. The young striker Hector-Ingram was giving very little to feed off but ran tirelessly, Samuelson was the only one of the three behind him to offer anything of an attacking threat, with Makasi in particular not posing any threat from the right.

Defensively West Ham's back 4 done well all night, the centre back pairing of Henry and Oxford were solid and very strong with the two full backs getting forward at every opportunity. Henry was strong and read the game well but was sometimes wasteful on the ball. Oxford played like a 21-22 year old first team player, confident on the ball, fantastic in the tackle it was a seriously impressive performance from a 17 year old. Again however on the ball one to many misplaced passed and pings. It was the first time ive seen Pike and he had a very good game. Hendrie looked like a player who had played higher (one of the few for WHU who actually had compared to the Liverpool side) but kept going inside on the attack when the space and threat was to stay wide to be an outlet to deliver a cross.

In front of the back four Dobson and Cullen worked tirelessly all night but in the first half struggled. Wasteful on the ball and with little options ahead of them they were getting caught in possession too much. Both of them (Dobson especially) in the second half however stepped things up and provided West Ham with quality forward passes which allowed us to finally get at the Liverpool defence. Dobson in the second period was spraying 30-40 yard passes around with ease opening up space for flair players such as Browne and Samuelson to commit Liverpool and make something happen. West Hams first real attack of the second half lead to the ball breaking to Makasi after good work by Browne with Makasi's strike forcing Bogdan to concede a corner. The corner kick dropped in the box and caused a scramble before Henry smashed it home.

That really gave WHU the momentum to push on with Samuelson and Browne - who had come into the game in the second half having chances to win it. Texiera for Liverpool had the best chance in the final minutes, a clearance up field catching our back 4 out and with Speigel hesitating to come for it not once but three times Texiera latched onto it and 1v1 Speigel produced a slide tackle for Pike to scramble it clear. Massive let off for the keeper who done ok on the night, nothing more really. Texiera for so much hype was Liverpools worst player going forward, was very disappointed with him.

Extra time followed and Skrtel picked up his first booking for a foul on Browne. Browne had caught him in the first 15 mins of the match and Skrtel was clearly not impressed with the challenge or the player. What ensued however was Skrtel playing the remaining 80 or so mins for which he was on the pitch running around looking to kick lumps out of Browne. It was shocking to see such a big name running around looking to kick lumps out of a kid.....anyhow it was his 3rd foul - a stupid lunge where he was just looking to hurt Browne when the ball was going towards the corner flag which brought his first yellow. From the resulting free kick Liveprool sprung an attack with the sub left back (had a good game) strode forward and cracked a 30 yarder off the corner of bar and post, it looked in and deserved a goal. Then it was West Hams turn, the move coming down the left and Makasi was fed in the channel were he produced a first time cross to the edge of the box which found Browne on the volley and smashed into the bottom left corner. It was a goal which his endeavor and work rate merited, and no one looked more gutted than Skrtel - perfect.

He then took his frustrations out at Samuelsen, yet another mazy dribble caused Skrtel to hack him down on the edge of the box and then scream at Samuelsen that he dived and put his head in the youngsters face. This brought a second yellow and he was off to cap one the most embarrassing performances from a pro playing down a level i think ive ever seen.

At this point i left, thinking in the final 10 mins against 10 men WHU had done enough and getting home to warm up would mean i didnt miss much. Turns out i missed an equaliser, a screamer from Hendrie and then another red card.

Still the youngsters had done it and deservedly so, they displayed a performance which defied their years and took on a Liverpool XI where only 2 of them hadnt played in the first team. Their ability to change tactics and overcome the problems of the first half was impressive with Oxford, Samuelson Browne and Pike being the standout performers. Dobson's second half performance deserves credit too, theres certainly a few last night that can be in the first team squad pre season and can help out in the Europa next year should we get there.

Best of luck to them in the final, think there are still a few to come back from injury and with Samuelson in the team we certainly have a chance.

Would love to see a full house for the final or as close as possible. Lots of people want to see the stadium before it closes and can't get tickets for 1st team matches.

A great opportunity to see the ground in a competitive match and support some good kids in the process.

Hope to club don't under estimate the interest and only open one stand
